Mount Pleasant man dies in one-car crash

    A Sunday night one-car crash has claimed the life of a Mount Pleasant man.

    Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) highway patrol troopers were notified of a motor vehicle crash on FM 127 in Titus County at approximately 10:09 p.m. July 19.  A preliminary investigation indicates a 2007 Nissan Xterra driven by Jose Almendarez, 57, of Mount Pleasant was traveling east on FM 127. For a still undetermined reason,  Almendarez lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll over.

   Almendarez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Titus County Justice of the Peace Irma Dunn. His body was taken to Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

   The crash remains under investigation with no additional information at this time.
