Titus County wreck claims lives of four

A Friday evening Titus County accident has tragically claimed the lives of four people including a juvenile and critically injured four others.

   According to reports released by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), at approximately 5:10 p.m. on July 3, troopers were called to investigate a crash on US 271 in Titus County just north of the Camp County line. 

  A preliminary investigation indicates a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling northbound on US 271. For a yet-to-be- determined reason, the driver of the Chevrolet lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes were it collided with a southbound 2013 Nissan Quest.  The area was experiencing a heavy rainstorm at the time of the crash.          

   The driver of the Chevrolet, Pablo Beltran, 47, of Mount Pleasant, died at the scene. A passenger, who has not been identified, also died at the scene. Another passenger Raul Gonzalez, 52, of Mount Pleasant, was ejected from the vehicle. Gonzalez was taken to an area hospital with injuries.

    The driver of the Nissan, Michelle Stroh, 37, of Carrollton, was transported to an area hospital and later died. A male juvenile passenger was also transported to an area hospital and later died. Two other juvenile passengers, one male and one female, were taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas for serious injuries. Another passenger, Austin Stroh, 37, was taken to a Tyler hospital with serious injuries. 

   While the crash remains under investigation, no other information is currently available.
