Funeral services for Wade Amerson, 61, will be held Saturday, July 18 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Amerson tragically succumbed to injuries suffered in a boating accident July 11 at Lake Bob Sandlin.
According to reports, the boat collided with a portion of a water-control apparatus around 11 Saturday night. At the time of the accident, Amerson, another male and one female, were on board. The two remaining boat occupants were later taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Texas Game Warden Captain Shawn Hervey is currently leading the fatality investigation which is still in progress.
Amerson, who was born October 28, 1958 in Mount Pleasant, worked for Luminant as an equipment operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Electric Workers.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Amerson, mother; June McElyea Lawler, son, Ashley Amerson of Mount Pleasant, daughter; Traci Licata and husband Peter of Houston, stepdaughter; Taylor Belcher of Tyler, grandchildren Easton and Lawton Licata, both of Houston and brother Scott Amerson of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Amerson and stepfather, Glenn Lawler.
Following the service, burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
The Amerson family has asked that donations be made to The Lions Club, Lighthouse for the Blind or First Baptist Church. An account has also been set up for donations at the First Federal Community Bank.
