Suspect arrested in stabbing death of spouse

A Mount Pleasant woman is now in custody charged with first-degree murder in the death of her husband.

  Responding to a 911 call in the early hours of March 8, the Mount Pleasant Police Department arrived at 1:15 a.m. at the Oak Manor Apartment complex located at 2201 N. Edwards Avenue.

   Upon arrival, officers discovered that Roberto Espinoza, 26, of Mount Pleasant, had been stabbed. The victim was transported to Titus Regional Medical Center by EMS, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

   Seven hours later, MPPD homicide investigators arrested the victim’s wife, Araceli Espinoza, 23, in connection with the stabbing death. She has now been booked into the Titus County Sheriff’s Office Jail with no bail currently set. The victim’s family has been notified.
