Morris County chooses next judge

Morris County has decided who will be its next County Judge.

Republican Doug Reeder, with 2,791 votes (63.84 percent), beat Democratic challenger Deborah MacKay who finished with 1, 581 votes (36.16 percent).

Reeder, 46, is a 1990 Daingerfield High School graduate.

“It feels great to finally get the win,” Reeder said. “This was a group effort and I’m just grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

Reeder, who has committed to being a full-time county judge, will retain his license to practice law.  He has practiced in Houston, Tyler and Midland before returning home in 2015.

“I really want to thank all of the voters who have supported me.

“The first order of business will be to talk to each of the commissioners individually and pick their brains on what they feel are our greatest needs in the County. For a while, I want to just gain insight from them and really learn from their experiences.”

Reeder and his wife Angie are the parents of two children.

A special thanks is extended to Charlesetta Bruce of Daingerfield for data collection during election night in Morris County.
