Homecoming festivities halted due to visiting team COVID case

A positive COVID-19 case by the visiting team sent Mount Pleasant High School Homecoming organizers scrambling to reschedule. Set to host Hallsville Friday, Nov. 13, the 2020 Homecoming football game and all pre-game activities had to be cancelled at the last minute.
Pregame festivities including the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, presentation of the Football Sweethearts and crowning of the Band Beau and Sweetheart will now be moved to halftime of the game Nov. 27 against Pine Tree. As the final home game of the regular season, the matchup is also Senior Night for the Tigers. All tickets purchased for the Nov. 13 game will be refunded back to the card on file.

The members of the 2020 MPHS Homecoming Court include Queen nominees Lessete Cruz, Litzy Patino, Alejandra Ramirez and Niurka Valente. Nominees for Homecoming King include Samuel Carillo, Gaven Fife, Didier Serrano and Devin Williams. Football Sweethearts for 2020 include Karen Trejo (Varsity), Elizabeth Lockett (JV), and Conlee Zachry (Freshman). The Sweethearts are selected by members of the respective football teams.
