Deputies seek arrest in stolen church air, heating unit

The Camp County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the person or persons responsible for stealing an air conditioning and heating unit from Leesburg Baptist Church last month.

Deputies responded to the church just west of Pittsburg Nov. 1 after receiving a report of theft of the unit. Located on the north side of the church, the unit, less than a year old, was removed from the concrete slab. The thief or thieves apparently turned the power off on the side of the building connected to the unit and cut all of the wires to the building taking the outside unit. The unit is a Carrier Performance 5-ton unit (model #24ACC660A003).

Anyone with information or who knows someone who may have information on this theft is asked to contact the Camp County Sheriff’s Office at 903-856-6651 or Crime Stoppers at 800-396-3351.

“It’s just a sad day when someone will steal something from the church,” said Leesburg Baptist Church Pastor Mel Murphy.
