Multiple Titus County cases reported in two days; total now tops 27
For the second day in a row, Titus County has reported multiple numbers of new cases of COVID-19. The county’s total now stands at 27.
A day ago, May 5, three positive cases were confirmed which increased the total to 23. While Case #21 involved a female age 20-29, Cases 22 and 23 were a male and female from the same household in the 50-59 age category.
And today, one day later, comes news that four more cases, three females and one male have been reported. The women are in the age range of 20-29, 40-49 and 30-39 and the male is age 40-49.
“This patient (Case #27) works out of town, but after today’s investigations, it is very apparent that there is a significant connection to one of our local plants,” explained Titus County Judge Brian Lee, “There are also same-household patients that appear to be employment related.”
“As the active case count climbs, so does the increased opportunity for further, more rapid, spread,” Judge Lee further wrote. “As we enjoy the newly-opened restaurants and salons, we all need to be aware of the increased risk. What small concessions are you willing to make to minimize further spread?”
Of the now 27 confirmed cases, six individuals have recovered. In response to the increased numbers, a second free, drive thru COVID-19 testing event is now scheduled in Mount Pleasant Saturday, May 9 at the Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Potential participants will be screened for symptoms. To register, call (512) 883-2400 or click on this link: txcovidtest.org
