National Night Out celebrated locally
Local police departments, including Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg, held their annual National Night Out celebrations Oct. 2.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood gatherings to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. The national event also provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of people take part in National Night Out, now in its 35th year of observance, across thousands of communities in all 50 states. Both Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg Police Departments held their events in local parks and collaborated with other first responders such as the fire department and also provided space for vendor booths. Next year’s event is already set for Oct. 1, 2019.
