Funeral services for the second and final victim were held Jan. 30 as a result of a Morris County morning accident five days earlier which claimed the lives of both a father and his toddler daughter.
Just prior to 8:30 a.m., a pickup truck, driven by Hughes Springs resident Bobby Lynn Morris, Jr. 38, collided with a tractor-trailer truck, driven by Jose Salomon, 49, of Tyler. The accident occurred on Highway 11 just three miles east of Daingerfield.
Morris, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Morris County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Jennifer Easley, had one passenger, his five-year-old daughter, in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The child was airlifted from the wreck scene to the Louisiana State University (LSU) hospital where she later died of her injuries. No injuries were reported for Salomon.
