City holds Camp Out in Dellwood Park

It’s time to pitch a tent and have some fun. The City of Mount Pleasant is hosting its annual City-wide Campout Friday, Nov. 9 at the historic Dellwood Park with registration beginning at 6 p.m. Come enjoy complimentary campfires, hot dogs, s’mores kits, drinks and games for the entire family. The first 50 campsites will receive a giveaway bag. Campers may begin setting up their campsite after 12 noon on Friday.

The entire park will be available for tent camping with campfires allowed only in designated areas.  Participants are encouraged to bring their tents and camping gear and stay overnight. All camps will need to be disassembled by 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be in attendance again this year with the educational and enlightening “Operation Game Thief” trailer giving viewers the opportunity to learn about local wildlife, contraband and game laws.

Last year’s campout was a success with families of all ages participating,” explained Jacob Hatfield, Director of Community Services. “Dellwood Park Campout has become a favorite event of residents. Activities will be available, but campers can participate in all or none.  The entire event was created to provide residents a possible once in a lifetime experience to camp in the park.”
