Man dies, others injured in explosion at Lone Star Specialties

An Oklahoma contractor, working at Lone Star Specialties, was killed during an explosion at the plant late Friday afternoon, Aug. 31, according to law enforcement officials from the Lone Star Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department. 
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jennifer Easley was called to the scene at 6412 Highway 259 South and pronounced William Rudd, 43, of Yale, Oklahoma, dead. Four people injured by the explosion were transported by Champion Emergency Medical Services Ambulances to area hospitals. Also responding to the blast were the Lone Star Fire Department, Morris County Sheriff’s deputies, The Texas Rangers and the State Fire Marshal.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal, according to Lone Star Police Sgt. Bret Gutierrez.
